Low Carb Broccoli Salad Recipe
May this Keto Broccoli Salad Recipe with these ingredients. It is a great Grain-Free Low Carb Side Dish or lunch salad.
Broccoli – The most important part of this recipe is fresh broccoli. You want to blanch the broccoli so that it crisp and bright green for the salad.
Sour Cream – You can use sour cream or greek yogurt to add the creaminess to this broccoli salad. Greek yogurt vs. Sour cream – Keto purists may prefer to use greek yogurt as it has less carbs than sour cream.
Creamy Keto Mayo – Keto mayo is made with an egg yolk from raw eggs, vinegar or lemon juice and olive oil so it’s healthier than conventional mayonnaise.
You can make your own keto mayo at home by combining these ingredients in a food processor until smooth. You can also buy your own low carb mayo from Primal Kitchen or Chosen Foods. They both have a great avocado oil mayo that goes great in this dish.
White Wine Vinegar – The broccoli salad is made nice and tangy with the use of white wine vinegar. Keto dieters are limited in their foods that provide a lot of potassium, so vinegar is not only used to make this dish taste great but it also helps Keto dieters get more potassium.
White Balsamic Vinegar – You can also add some White Balsamic Vinegar to the salad to give a more diverse flavor
Red Onion – Add mince red onions to this keto salad. The health benefits of red onions are that they contain flavonoids, which are antioxidant compounds. They also help to lower blood pressure and reduce cholesterol levels.
Cheddar Cheese – Add shredded cheese like cheddar cheese to low carb broccoli salad.
Bacon – Add bacon to the salad to make it extra tasty while you are on the keto diet.
Salt and Pepper – Add spices like salt and pepper to taste
Some Keto Dieters also add a little bit of sugar-free honey to the salad. I wouldn’t recommend adding it because this recipe is supposed to be low in carbs, but it’s up to you!
If you want an even more diverse flavor profile, try adding some Kale or Spinach.
Kale Chips – To add in some crunch to this dish, you can also make kale chips like we did in our Kale Chip Recipe post! When they’re done baking on 350F degrees for 12 minutes, toss them into the bowl of broccoli salad before serving as well if you want more texture and flavor.
Kale has been touted as one of the most nutrient dense vegetables on earth with high levels of vitamin K, C and A.
Shredded Carrots – Keto Broccoli Salad Recipes are a great way to get your veggies in. You want to shred the carrots so that they’re small enough for people not to see them and pick them out of their Keto broccoli salad recipe.
Poppy Seed Dressing – Poppy seed dressing is an unexpected ingredient, but one that tastes fantastic! Healthy fats from avocado oil make this Keto broccoli salad recipe creamy, without any dairy or sugar.
The poppy seeds add texture and crunchiness too which is why I love including it in my Keto recipes. It’s also low carb friendly because there isn’t rice vinegar added! A little bit goes a long way with poppy seeds though so don’t go overboard adding.
Chili Powder – Keto broccoli salad recipes often include chili powder, which adds a spicy kick and an extra layer of flavor that you just can’t get from regular old onion or garlic powders.
Celery – Keto Broccoli Salad Recipe goes well with celery. The crunchy vegetables add something different and they compliment the broccoli nicely.
Salad Greens – Add your favorite salad greens to the Keto broccoli salad recipe for a more filling dish. Kale, spinach and romaine are all great options for adding some vegetables you might not have in your own garden if you live close to one of the coasts here in America.
Toasted Almonds – Finish off this keto broccoli salad with toasted almonds! The high protein and healthy fat will fill you up and satisfy your hunger while following Keto guidelines.
