This low carb casserole has some yummy keto friendly ingredients that go past just eggs and sausage casserole. You won’t get bored with the flavor of this Keto breakfast casserole.
Did you know that casserole originally referred to the pan in which the dish was cooked? Casserole is from a French word meaning “sauce-pan”.

The French word “casserole” had been derived from the old Provencal word, “cassa” and the Medieval Latin word, “cattia”, both of these words meaning “ladle”. This seemed to imply that these words were describing a common pot from which everyone shared.
The idea of casserole cooking as a one dish meal became popular in the United States in the 1950s.

Ingredients
- Non-stick cooking spray
- 2 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 3 Cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen (see notes in instructions)
- 3 Tablespoons water
- 1 Cup cheddar cheese
- 6 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 4 eggs
- ½ Cup heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- Sea salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
We decided to make this recipe with broccoli because it is a super star Keto vegetable. It only has 4 net carbs per serving. That makes it an often used keto veggies.

How to make Broccoli Egg Casserole?
Start by pre-heat oven to 350°F.
Then, spray an 8” x 8” casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
If using fresh broccoli, cut them into florets and add to a microwave safe bowl with 1/4 inch water at the bottom. Microwave for 2 minutes.
If you are using frozen broccoli, thaw on the counter or in the microwave.
Next, drain the broccoli and transfer broccoli to prepared casserole dish.
Spread out the broccoli into a uniform layer.
Then, top with shredded cheese.
Next, add a layer of crumbled bacon and side aside.
In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs with the heavy cream, and spices – onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, and oregano.
Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Then, pour the egg mixture over the broccoli, cheddar, and bacon.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is set and lightly golden brown on top.
Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
Finally, sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve. Enjoy!
How long can you keep an egg casserole in the fridge?
You can keep your egg casserole in the fridge for 3 to 4 days covered.
After baking, any leftovers must be refrigerated within 2 hours.
You can also freeze a cooked egg casserole for about 3 months. Do not freeze an uncooked egg casserole.
