Keto spinach balls

My husband was wary first told him what I was making (because he doesn’t love spinach), but once he tasted them, he was completely on board! In fact, he ate a lot of these little appetizers. I did my recipe happy dance and took pictures of what was left!

Keto Spinach Balls

These cute little spinach balls make for a wonderful finger food that is great for an appetizer. They are naturally gluten free and you can make them dairy free by swapping a few ingredients (see below). Here are some Dairy Free Keto Recipes.

There is 1 net carb per ball with 2 grams of carbs and 1 gram of fiber per ball. This makes these spinach balls a great snack idea for anyone on the Keto Diet.

Alternative Ingredients

Traditionally, spinach ball recipes are made with bread crumbs. We decided against making bread crumbs for these Keto Balls because it is not worth the extra effort of making the bread and then crumbing it.

You can also use fresh spinach if you want. Cook the spinach in a saute pan with a little butter or oil until it is wilted.

To make this recipe dairy free, you can swap out the cheese for nutritional yeast and the butter for ghee.

Tools & Supplies

I tried making them in the oven, but I like the more crispy in the air fryer. I’m giving directions for both just in case you don’t have an air fryer.

I personally have fallen in love with my air fryer! Our microwave broke and while we waited for a replacement, the air fryer came out as the hero. For a moment, I considered not replacing the microwave! The air fryer cooks so much better and the time is not that much different.

My favorite air fryer is also a pressure cooker! It’s amongst my favorite Keto Kitchen Tools and Gadgets

  • If using oven instructions, silicone mat and baking sheet or parchment paper and a cookie sheet.

How to Make Spinach Balls?

Firstly, add all the dry ingredients (Parmesan Cheese, Almond Flour, Garlic Powder, Salt and Pepper, and Italian Seasoning) into a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly.

Dry Ingredients

You can use a food processor to mix the dry ingredients if it seems like they are not combining well just with a hand or spoon mix.

Then, thaw the cooked spinach using the microwave or stove.  It doesn’t need to be cooked just thawed.

When it is not too hot to the touch, squeeze the water out the spinach by making it into a ball. You can also use paper towels to soak up some of the water.

Spinach is very wet and will make the spinach balls soggy rather than crispy.
