Keto Steak Sauce Recipe
We chose to make our won Keto Steak Sauce after reading some of the ingredients in the steak sauce on the market. Most of them are full of carbs and corn starch. EEK!
We decided to make a gluten free low carb sauce to put on our steaks that are made from fresh organic ingredients we love.
Here is a list of some of the ingredients you will need to have in your fridge and pantry to make this recipe. You can get the full measurements in the recipe card below where you can print it out.
- Vinegar
- Lemon Juice
- Garlic
- Powdered Mustard or Yellow Mustard
- Soy Sauce
- No Added Sugar Ketchup
- Salt & Pepper
- Swerve Brown Sugar
Brown Swerve
We decided to use the new Brown Swerve which works really well for baking on the Keto diet. It is gluten free and has zero net carbs.
Brown Swerve is sweet and delicious. It is a natural brown sugar replacement that does not have the bitter aftertaste associated with other sweeteners like stevia and monkfruit.
All you have to do is measure it like brown sugar. If a recipe calls for a cup of brown sugar; simply replace with a cup of Swerve.

Apple Cider Vinegar
We like to use apple cider vinegar with the mother in it. Does that sound weird? It did to me at first too. Then, I went to Ireland and actually saw what a mother is and how it makes the vinegar so much better.
We went to an apple orchard where they made vinegar, cider and all the apple products you can possibly think of.
Apple Cider vinegar is made from fresh apple juice. Then, they add yeast to eat the sugar and turn the juice into alcohol.
Then, bacteria is added to the mixture converting the alcohol into acetic acid. The bacteria is the mother, because it is the catalyst that gives rise to the vinegar.
Usually for most commercial vinegar, the mother is removed from the vinegar because it makes the vinegar cloudy.
We choose to use apple cider vinegar because it is supposed to have health benefits like aiding in digestion.
It is also said to help keep blood sugar low which is awesome for people on the Keto Diet.
I chose Keto because I am pre-diabetic so the choice of vinegar makes a big difference for me.

No Sugar Added Ketchup
Heinz came out with a No Sugar Added Tomato Ketchup. I really can’t tell the difference between it and the regular kind. It is the thick and only sweetened only with red ripe tomatoes.
This no added sugar ketchup has 75% less sugar than regular ketchup, while still full of home-grown Heinz taste. The Heinz No Sugar Added Ketchup only has 1 gram of carbs per tablespoon.
We tried the Primal Kitchen Ketchup as well and was extremely impressed. As that one is organic if you prefer. It has 2 carb per tablespoon.
Here are some recipes where we used the no sugar added ketchup: Keto Bunless Burger.
Tools & Supplies
This recipe is super easy to make so you don’t need much in the way of tools and supplies. Just a Mixing Bowl and a Whisk. Even a fork or spoon will do if you don’t have a whisk.

Wine Pairings
The best wine pairing that I have found for this recipe is this The Greeter Cabernet Sauvignon. It is delicious and has low residual sugar only .5 grams per bottle.
The wine pairs extremely well with red meat and anything on the grill.
It has a bold and juicy flavor with blackberry bramble, black cherry liqueur and dried tobacco on a well-textured frame with a lingering finish.
Since it is Clean Crafted wine, it will be a lower carb choice than most red wines. Learn more about residual sugar here.
