Indulge in some creamy and slightly spicy Keto Queso cheese dip. It tastes like it came right out of a Mexican restaurant – and it’s low carb!
Before I started my Keto diet, I would alway order extra queso when I would go to nice Mexican restaurants and fast food type Mexican restaurants like Chipotle and Moe’s Southwest Grill.
I like to pour Queso on top of my tacos along with salsa and shredded cheese and sometime even guacamole. What can I say – I LOVE Mexican toppings.
My Favorite KETO Queso Cheese Dip
I absolutely adore warm, cheesy queso. It is one of the best dips out there that has a low carb count and is gluten free! It’s just so comforting and gratifying to dig into a nice dip alone or serve it as a Keto Friendly Appetizer.
Sometimes I have some serious cravings for this cheesy dip. Instead of going to the Mexican restaurant (and overdoing the carbs), I created an awesome Queso dip you can enjoy at home.
You will love it! It’s completely keto friendly. We played around with cheese and figured out the best ingredients. The addition of almond flour gives it a thick creamy texture and some additional protein.

What’s in a Keto Queso?
There are only 4 ingredients in my Keto Queso. The entire recipe is in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. But here’s what you’ll need to have in the kitchen:
- Butter
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Fresh Jalapeno
- Almond Flour
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Remember, you want full fat heavy cream. Keto is a low carb and high fat diet. You could even use cream cheese in this recipe too.
Just cut back on some of the shredded cheese and use cream cheese. This will make it thicker and even creamier.
And don’t worry about the almond flour adding any taste to it. You can’t taste it at all. It just thickens it a little bit, that’s all it does.
Optional Additional Ingredients
If you want, these are some more low carb options you can add to the queso:
- Green chilis
- Diced tomatoes

How to Make Queso In the Slow Cooker?
I made this keto recipe on the stove. But, if you don’t have time to do the stovetop version, you can throw the ingredients in a slow cooker just as easily. I love having the option to make it stovetop or in the slow cooker.
To make keto cheese dip in the slow cooker, just put all the ingredients in the slow cooker. Stir it well. Cook on low for about 4 hours.
You might have to stir it a few times while it cooks.
We love our slow cooker and air fryer so much for Keto cooking. What is your favorite kitchen gadget?

Low Carb Chip Options
If you are trying to stay strict on Keto, then you definitely want to stay away from tortilla chips. I know you miss crispy chips on Keto because I definitely do!
If you can make your own low carb crackers, that’s the best option. In fact, I have a recipe for some crispy keto chips. They taste and feel like flour or corn tortilla chips, but with fewer net carbs. YAY!
You can also make these Crispy ALMOND FLOUR Crackers Recipe. They are made from almond flour and egg yokes rather than cheese.
Here are some other foods you can use to scoop up this amazing cheese dip:
- Bell peppers
- Pork rinds
- Cucumbers
- Zucchini Slice
- Keto Spinach Balls
- Air Fryer Green Beans

How Many Carbs per Serving?
This cheese dip only has 1 carb per serving and 1 gram of fiber per serving making it zero net carbs per serving. The serving size is a little more than 1.5 ounces.
How to Make Keto Queso Dip?
Here is how I made my dip. It’s so simple and doesn’t taste low carb or like you are missing out on something.
The entire recipe is at the bottom of this post. Basically, you’ll need to heat a skillet or pot over low-medium heat.
Melt butter and saute’ the diced and seeded jalapeno.
Then, add in the heavy cream. Keep it moving.
Next, you’ll stir in the almond flour.
Lastly, add the the cheese in cup by cup to make sure that the cheese melts before adding the next cup.
Is it a Thick Cheese Dip?
No, this cheese dip isn’t as thick as traditional queso dip.
But, if you want to make it thicker, you can do that very easily. It is super easy to hust add a tablespoon of xanthan gum. It’s a natural thickener and doesn’t add any carbs.
Is Chipotle Queso Keto?
We love chipotle queso dip and also the one from Moe’s Southwestern Grill. You can usually eat Queso at most restaurants.
Just be sure to check into the other foods that might be in the dishes. Sometimes corn starch is used on meats and makes it a carb heavy choice.
For 2 ounces Chipotle Queso, there are 4 grams of carbs and .5 grams of fiber. That means Chipotle Queso has net carbs of 3.5 grams for 2 ounces meaning it is not bad for Keto dieters if you eat it in moderation.
The Chipotle Queso Blanco is made with real ingredients including: Monterey Jack and white cheddar cheese, serrano, poblano and chipotle peppers.
